A very common Frequently Asked Question of ours is how to maintain a driveway after it has been sealcoated.
Now that you have the nice driveway you were looking for, you may be wondering, “How can I maintain my driveway?” Unlike Sealcoating, maintaining is actually a very simple task! We will detail a list of tools anyone can use to keep their driveway looking fresh and prolong the length of their investment.
Leaf Blowers. Don’t worry; no need to break the bank and buy an industrial blower like the ones you see our crews using. A simple handheld leaf blower can do everything you need. One of the most overlooked causes of wear and tear on your driveway comes from erosion. Once a week simply take a small blower and remove the debris on top of your asphalt. Although it seems like it's not that dirty, the truth is that the natural elements are placing dirt and other rough materials on your driveway for your vehicle's tires to grind into. This simple act can add years to your driveway's life.
Wire Brushes. When the blowers can’t get the dirt off, take a wire broom and scrub the area, then return with a blower to remove the layers of dirt. The wire broom will not affect the sealcoat on your driveway but will greatly aid you in removing caked-on dirt.
Power Washing. We do not recommend doing this very often. However, if you have a driveway with many problem areas, this could be a great way to help clean it. Stay away from 0-degree tips, as they can cut into hard materials and leave patterns on the affected area. A simple soft wash is great for removing tough stains.
Driveway maintenance is often overlooked. The regular use of these steps will add years to your driveway and make your sealcoating investment go even further than the 3-4 period we typically recommend.
