One of our most frequently asked questions is “How can I place a no-parking “X” box in front of our driveway or our property?”
Any pavement markings that aren’t already placed in front of your home must be approved by your township or county. If you already have an existing no-parking “X” box, you do not have to go through the permit process.
Check out this video as we make a no-parking "X" Box for a resident:
For residents of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Department of Streets has an application form online to begin the process. The city will review it and provide a permit containing a drawing with the measurements the city requires.
For most counties, the permit is free but please click on the links above for further information.
The average measurements for the perimeter are usually 8.5”x22.5” however these measurements are subject to change depending on each property. We primarily paint the no-parking “X” box in white, however, we can paint it yellow depending on township regulations.
Once the permit is obtained by the property owner, we can then begin work for you! We will clean the area, layout the measurements with chalk-line, and apply the no-parking “X” box.
Why not do it yourself, a can of spray paint is cheap enough? While you may find traffic paint at your standard hardware store, the quality of this product is reflected in its cheap price. This DIY project can quickly become a headache that results in uneven, messy lines that do not stand up to weather erosion. We only use high-quality, commercial grade paint with our line-striping machines. This ensures a crisp and precise no-parking “X” box, that will last you significantly longer.
Let us handle laying out, measuring and painting the no-parking “X” box and provide results that will help you prevent people from blocking your driveway!
